Diversity, Outreach, Advocacy
The purpose of DOA is to serve as the
department's compass- to ensure that we are continuing
to work discuss issues and to engage in training related
to diversity, to look at practices related to our work
in order to secure an inclusive working environment, and
to facilitate projects/initiatives/research related to
the area of diversity.
It is important for Residence Life to create an
environment which:
-
Each citizen feels he/she rightfully
belongs
-
One's dignity and membership is
recognized and respected regardless of distinctions in
identity
-
The moral and legal rights to free
through, speech, and opinion are encouraged in an
atmosphere of mutual acknowledgement and respect.
-
Judgments by other are made solely on
one's conduct, character, and exercise of citizenship
and intellect.
DOA works closely with Residents of
Color Council (ROCC), creating partnerships with
neighboring universities such as Howard University, and
proving programs such as Tunnel of Oppression.
If you are curious on how to get involved with diversity
outreach, feel free to get in touch with Aja Holmes at
