When to Contact Us

Nearly all of our staff live in the residence halls, so we're very easy to reach--both in emergencies and just to check in.  Our staff is trained to respond to a variety of situations.  Even if they cannot solve the problem themselves, they will usually know good resources to contact.

Parents and family members who are concerned about their student should first talk with the student themselves.  Involving our residents in challenging situations is an important first step.  If parents and family members have already talked to their student and still believe they need to speak directly with a staff member, they should contact the RHD or AC for that area.

Residents are welcome and encouraged to contact their RA as the need arises.  If your RA is unavailable, from 7pm to 9am, there is at least an RA on duty in each of the residence halls.  The RA on duty phone number is posted in your RHO and throughout your building.

Below are some of the typical situations for which residents are encouraged to contact our staff.  Even if your concern is not on this list, please don't hesitate to contact your Residence Life Staff.

  • Academic Issues
  • Community Council
  • Community Living Agreements
  • Conduct Issues (please note that all conduct decisions are made by our professional staff)
  • Facilities Issues (students can also report facilities concerns online)
  • Health Issues (mental or physical)
  • Leadership Opportunities
  • Living Learning Communities
  • Neighborhood Council
  • Programming Ideas
  • Roommate Concerns
  • Security Issues

Who do I call?

Residence Life is lucky to partner with many offices on campus.  Learn more about how our partner offices help resident students and who else you can call on in the event of an emergency.
